Campbell Walsh - High Performance Coach (Podium Pathway)

Campbell has been working as a consultant coach with New Zealand since 2013, currently coaching the Podium Pathway athletes.  Previously he coached Luuka Jones, helping steer her to an Olympic silver medal at Rio 2016 and 4th place at the 2017 World Championships. He has also worked extensively with Mike Dawson, assisting in his campaigns which saw him finish in the top 10 at the same Olympic Games and World Championships.

Campbell is Scottish, and was himself a full-time athlete in the sport, competing for Great Britain in the mens K1 event up til 2012. He is proud to have had a successful sports career, winning individual medals at World Cup races, European Championships, World Championships and the Olympic Games. Whilst his racing days are over, he still loves paddling, and can be seen enjoying playing on the whitewater gates most weeks. Outside of canoe slalom, Campbell is an avid road cyclist, mountain biker, runner, orienteering and adventure racer.

“I am very lucky to be able to work with motivated, talented athletes and highly experienced colleagues in a country with such a strong sports culture. With the world-class Wero whitewater course in Auckland, the CSNZ development structure and high level support from HPSNZ, I think canoe slalom racing in New Zealand has a bright future. I look forward to being involved!"
