
A great opportunity in the form of three paddling scholarships has been offered by canoe slalom paddler and former Cook Islands Olympian, Ella Nicholas.
This inaugural scholarship has been set up with the aim of increasing opportunities within
canoe slalom and in recognition of the support I received from Oceania throughout my
paddling career. I hope that through canoe slalom the recipients will experience some of the
passion, friendships and lifelong memories that I am so fortunate to have had’
Kaute Scholarship: Two available
• $500
• Aim to aid junior paddlers to attend national championships or local training
costs/camps
Kowhai Scholarship: Three available
• $1000
• Aim to aid junior/U23 paddlers to attend nationals and training camps
Tipani Scholarship: NOT AVAILABLE 2021 due to unclear international travel
Eligibility:
1. Citizen of New Zealand or a Pacific Island
2. Receives no other funding from High Performance NZ
Requirements:
1. 250 word essay describing how you could affect positive change in your community
2. Email from a Coach attesting to your motivation and potential
3. Completed application form
4. *If <18 year of age - Email from parents consenting to and supporting application
Selection:
Will be at the discretion of the judging panel with special consideration toward encouraging
woman, Maori and Pacific Islanders.

Applications close: March 21 2021
Successful applicants will be notified March 24th 2020.
