Three days of summer racing over Auckland's Anniversary weekend was the original plan for the 2023 Oceania Championships but a freak storm hit bringing three month's worth of rain to Auckland causing mass flooding and an eventual state of emergency.

Racing was postponed on Saturday and rescheduled into a compact day of racing Sunday finishing with the Kayak Cross competition on Monday morning.  A definitely challenging scenario for event organisers and the paddling community who pivoted with the changes to ensure a safe but extemely wet competition could be run.

A huge thank you to the officials, volunteers, spectators, athletes and coaches who made this such a great event, Grassroots Trust, HPSNZ and Olympic Solidarity for their support and a special thanks to Sue Natoli who provided an insightful Q & A session.
