ECA Cup Day 1 – Promising Results and Podium Potential in Solkan


Day 1 of the ECA Cup in Solkan, Slovenia saw a good start from our athletes, with several performances across a large international field.

Rosie Rex was right in the mix for a top three finish in the U18 Women’s C1, going head-to-head with the Slovenian and Italian paddlers.

In the huge Men’s K1 U18 field, where only the top 30 advanced to the final, Joseph Sampson impressed with a 12th-place finish, while Kadin Nogaj also made the cut, finishing 27th. In the U23 Men’s K1, Ben Pilbrow placed 12th.

On the women’s side, Rosie Rex secured a 5th-place finish in the U18 K1, followed closely by Mayah Dooney in 7th. In the U23 K1 Women’s event, Holly Sheaff claimed 2nd, putting down a good run on the Soca river.

With Day 2 offering a new opportunity to race again, athletes/ will look to build on today’s experience and push for even stronger results.
