NZ hosts two ICF Ranking Races under new race format

The Aotearoa Open ICF Ranking Race has brought canoe slalom athletes from China, Japan, Korea, and Australia to New Zealand, creating a high-level competition that will test and elevate local paddlers.

As an ICF-sanctioned event, the race provides a valuable opportunity for Kiwi athletes to gain international experience without leaving home, refining their skills against world-class opponents. Beyond individual performance, the event plays a vital role in growing canoe slalom within the Oceasia region, strengthening ties between nations and fostering a more competitive landscape for future international events.

With Vector Wero hosting the action, the Aotearoa Open is not only a showcase of racing but also a stepping stone toward greater regional collaboration in the sport.
